Jon Jones, the Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Light Heavyweight champion has made a statement to ESPN.com where he has stated that he is overly excited at the prospect of a rematch for the title against Lyoto Machida, who was recently elevated to the level of the No. 1 contender for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship by Dana White after his sizzling performance at UFC on FOX 4. Jones is getting ready to take on Dan Henderson, in what will be his 4th defense of the title at UFC 151, scheduled for the 1st of September.
And Dana White had made it clear earlier in the month that the performances of Lyoto Machida at UFC on FOX 4 and his constant urges for a title shot will not go unheard, adding that he will face the winner of the Henderson – Jones title match later in the year for a shot at the title. However, Jones has made it clear that he doesn’t want that fight to happen. According to the Brazilian, he is not keen on the fight, adding that the lowest pay per view that he had last year was when he faced his compatriot.
Jones also added that hardly anyone wants to see him fight Machida for the title and that even he doesn’t want the fight. He further commented that Machida is a high risk fight but the rewards are very little. Jones also admitted that Machida is an extremely tough fighter but at the moment, no one will buy that fight.
Jones added that he has fought with the likes of Mauricio Shogun Rua, Rashad Evans as Quinton Rampage Jackson, but Lyoto Machida was the lowest draw of them all. He also added that he doesn’t find it interesting to fight someone when he doesn’t have anything to gain.
